Manuel de Castro y Padilla was different from other founder, he was not a military. His profession was a lawyer, be the obtained one this licentiate in the Biggest School of San Bartolomé, Salamanca, Spain. With all reason the historian Angel Tórrez Sejas wrote: " It was not a soldier, not adventurer; but a lawyer instructed in Salamantino de lustre  school”.

 

He was born in Andújar, Andalusian province of Jaen in December, 1573. His parents were the Lic. Alonso de Castro del Castillo, native to Castrojeríz, Archbishopric of Burgos; and Ms Inés de Vera y Padilla, native of Jeréz, border with the province Cadiz. It had four brothers: Fernando de Vera y Padilla, Alonso and Luis Antonio de Castro y del Castillo. The name of his sister is not known, but it is known that she was a wife of Captain Antonio Pacheco, chief magistrate of Arequipa. He was  Judge of the Audiencia de Charcas by means of certificate sent on February 10, 1603, at the age of 30 years, being the youngest.
